Retirement Livery

There’s always been horses at Maescoed, most recently Welsh section D cobs, previously, rascally pony club games ponies, before that the remnants of Dads mare from when he was young, and before those, the farm horses, the wooden poles that held their harness are still here, their horseshoes still at the barn door, or frequently ploughed up, from tiny donkey shoes, to giant cart horse ones. Fancy, were not. What we are is a farm, with big skies, shady trees, meadows, and spring water, straw eds and soft hay.

When you are looking for somewhere quiet, for your horse to retire to, where do you start, what is it that they need? If its peace and quiet with a friend next door, long lazy days, stretched out, crisp nights tucked in, then look no further, we currently only have room for a maximum of 4 retirees, plus our own Section a (she will be the boss!), going up to 8 at the end of 2024, our package includes ad lib hay, straw beds, mucking out, farrier trims, carrots and apples, lump salt and feeding any hard feed. Vets, dentistry, medicine giving and specialist care is all extra, as is hard feed.

Flowers

Imagine a field on a warm day, unusual and heritage breeds of tulips and daffodils, delicate sweet peas and roses, if you’re a local florist and you want to wow your customers with something different and unusual, look no further, welcome to out pick your own flowers, especially for florists.

What happens if we don’t sell them? They get bunched up and sold at the end of our lane, what happens if we still don’t sell them? They go in my home and then, they are plucked and dried on the aga to turn into the most beautiful confetti! 

Cattle

SO, in case you hadn’t noticed, we really like cows, I mean REALLY like them!

We run a herd of British Blue and British Blue crosses, mainly Dairy x Blue, we find the blue cows productive and great mothers, as well as kind natured, though they are, quite stubborn! We sell our annual draft of Bull calves after weaning around April, and heifers usually the following month

Wedding Field Hire

DO you long for a wedding that’s different? Peaceful, intimate, a bit wild, with bare toes in the grass?

We have just the spot (or spots!) for you, you can rent a piece of our farm for a day, or up to 4 days (2 before and 2 after) for your wedding, if you need it the local church is walking distance from the farm, we supply the ground and the views, you supply everything else, all we ask is that you leave no trace behind, take everything with you.

The Country Celebrant

HI, my names Hayley and id like to marry you…No that’s not quite right, I’d like you to get married by me!

That’s better, if you want to get married without the church part, Hayley is soon to be a fully, legally qualified celebrant! Totally flexible to suit your style, with a country twist. 

I can travel; to you, or you can tie the knot here on the farm, why not hire some bell tents, and make a few nights of it, mini moon and wedding all in one, we have local suppliers for drinks, music, amazing food, fabulous tents and marquees, or I can come to you, I travel up to 80 miles, any further I need somewhere to stay the night before just in case, we charge a fee of £600 for the day, and 45p per mile to get to you and back.

Land Access Co-ordination

Professional and timely land access negotiation and coordination for large and small utility projects across the UK where remote work is required. Site work by negotiation.
